Are you struggling to find a job you love? Are you looking for a job in general?
There’s a secret to your job hunt woes. There’s actually a way you can find a job quicker. I sort of spoiled it in the title of this article, so let’s get right into it…
What’s the best way to find a job?
Did you know that being single could actually help you find a job faster?
According to an article on CNN Money, 6 million married people lost jobs compared to 4.9 million single folks. On the finding work spectrum, 1.3 million married people were able to find work compared to 4.3 million single folks.
I’m not sure who was surveyed or any of the details behind this data. All I know is that this research indicates that being single (dating doesn’t count) could work in your benefit when it comes to finding work.
It’s funny because when I shared with you the cure for finding a job after college, I never once thought about being single vs being married.
Why’s it easier for a single person to land a job? According to the article, the conclusion comes down to:
A single person who has no other financial support, probably can’t afford to be as picky.
That’s a good point. Single people are pretty flexible. Last year I wrote about how my friend landed a dream job on Facebook by being at the right place at the right time. When you’re single you can be selfish and do your own thing.
The article expands on single people being able to find a new before a married person by stating:
Single people are more likely to take low wage positions or move to a new location in order to take a job. That flexibility opens up more job opportunities — even if they’re not necessarily better ones.
That makes sense. When you don’t have to support anyone else or live with someone, you can pretty much take a job with funky hours, a job that’s far away, or a job that will take up all of your free time. You can take any job at all because you just have to worry about yourself.
What if I can’t find a job fast at all?
You don’t have to get divorced to find a job. Being married or in a relationship can help you focus more and motivate you to work harder.
You can start an online business or try some cool things if your partner has a steady source of income coming in. If you want to get online all you have to do is sign up right now with Bluehost for a few bucks right now.
You can also go back to school to upgrade your skills if your partner doesn’t mind helping you out.
And I’ll stop there because I’m not married.
