Pregaming is a good moneysaver, so long as you're careful not to get too excited and go overboard. As a college kid, I hear too many awful stories about people going really hard in their pregaming because they want to avoid spending money at bars and getting themselves in trouble.

To risk sounding like my grandma, being safe (and alive) is more important than saving $6 on a drink. I almost never buy drinks at bars, but I'd take spending $6 on an overpriced Corona over drinking too much too fast at a pregame and getting in trouble any day.
