Moving out, even for a little bit, is an experience worth trying out. The roommates part sucks but I'm sure you got to meet lots of cool people along the way.

I go to college in the same town where my parents live. Literally, I can see my high school from anywhere on campus. I chose to live on campus to try it out and get away from my family. However, I have consistent terrible roommates and I also don't have a car. I recently learned that if I lived at home I would probably get paid $1250 from a scholarship that would go straight to my pocket, literally. Since I need a car, I am thinking about moving back home and saving up that money. Hopefully everything works out.

@Kris I wish the stereotype would go away too but I see it happen too often. I understand how it is an offensive stereotype for a young person like yourself that takes the time to read personal finance blogs. However, there are many people our age that simply don't care about their finances and end up racking up tons of debt when they go away for college.

@Wilhelm Man I totally agree with you. That's probably the main reason I regret staying in town. At this point though I only have one more year left and I figure I'll save as much as money to travel, you know get away from my parents more lol.
