@Trevor I think that we are all guilty of falling for the 3 C’s. I am working on improving myself which is partly the reason I wrote this article. Half the battle usually is realizing there is a problem. Once you admit to yourself that there is a problem then you may begin to work on it. I wish you and everyone else all the best when dealing with the 3 C’s.

Very good post! And it couldn’t be more true!

I have been guilty of making mistakes under each of the three categories listed! I financed 13k on a car when I was making $400 per month (stupid). I bought a ton of clothes at full price when I needed them (happened just recently). And I have wasted literally thousands of dollars on classes that I didn’t have to take!

I’m living proof! If you need me to testify as to the truthfulness of your words, I can do it here!

No don’t worry I didn’t forget about chicks believe, that’s a post to itself. In fact that’s a topic that I could write a whole series about, but not today.

#1 Lucky for me the University I attend is right on the subway line and in the heart of the downtown core. In fact it is cheaper and quicker for me to take public transit than it would be to drive there. However I do have my full license and I do drive but it is usually only to work and stuff like that.

#2 I shop smart/I use my own advice. You will never see me dress like a bum nor will you ever see me spend a fortune on clothing. You don’t have to wear a $100 shirt to look good.

#3 I pay for most of it on my own but I do receive a minimal amount of assistance that definitely helps out.

#4 Not going to go into details about this but if you counted all the drinks bought, nights out, and expensive dates I could be a richer man today.

You forgot the 4th C…. chicks
#1 I got my self an old 1981 BMW with a brand new paint on it (3K total),

#2 Nice shirts at a cheap price (if you are a shopping addict, you surely find good stuff )

#3 Got my parent and godmother to pay for school (I got lucky on this one!)

#4 CHICKS! I proposed my girlfriend back then… damn this ring was expensive But it worth it… I’m still with her… after 12 years

I think the they are all true but clothing can get to you. You want to seem “cool” but at the end of the day, your true friends are those that appreciate you for who you are and not what you wear.

Maybe I just hang out with a frugaler crowd than I thought, but I do not know anyone who spends anything like $100 a week on clothes. That’s just insane.
