Festival of Frugality #209: My Birthday Sucks Edition

Festival of Frugality

Welcome to the 209th festival of frugality hosted here at Studenomics!

Today is the my birthday sucks edition of this festival.

I could have been selfless and discussed the end of 2009 or Christmas. Instead I chose to talk about myself.

As I’m trying to plan something for my birthday I am once again reminded that December 26th is a horrible day to celebrate a birthday. It is Boxing Day and in Canada that means that most 20-somethings will not have a single penny left in their bank accounts by the time evening rolls around.

It’s not even that money is the major issue. It’s also the fact that the day lies awkwardly between Christmas and New Years Eve, two sure fire wallet busters. Oh well, life goes and it’s time to get this festival started!

After reading through the entries I was able to find 10 articles that perfectly fit the mold of this carnival. A short, yet very effective festival of frugality:

J. Money presents What Financial Advice Would You Give Tiger Woods? posted at Budgets Are Sexy. (J. Money shares a birthday with me and I’m sure he can relate as to how much it sucks.)

Madison presents 9 Ways to Save Money this Holiday Season posted at My Dollar Plan.

TSW presents Cut Postage Costs With Email: Will This Close The Post Office? posted at The Smarter Wallet.

Matt Jabs presents Credit Card Debt Reduction How To posted at Debt Free Adventure!

Kyle C. presents How Much are you Willing to Pay? posted at Suburban Dollar.

Bucksome presents The Best Times in Life are Free posted at Buck$ome Boomer’s Journey to Retirement.

Wise_Bread presents 7 Ways To Get Warm On The Cheap posted at Wisebread.

Peter presents Set Your Course For Next Year Now! Setting Values Oriented Goals posted at Bible Money Matters.

FMF presents How to Get Consumer Reports Online Access for Free posted at Free Money Finance.

MLR presents 8 Christmas Savings Ideas posted at My Life ROI.

Festival of Frugality home.

Thanks For Getting This Far

Wow, that does kind of suck. My birthday is around Halloween, but that’s not nearly the same; nobody gives me a plastic pumpkin full of candy and pretends that they don’t have to give me a birthday present. Hopefully, you have a good Boxing Day/birthday, even if it does fall on a crummy day.

Happy birthday! Man, that does suck! Maybe you should move to the states =) They don’t have Boxing Day. People would still be poor form Christmas still, but I guess it’s less of a blow!

@J.Money I will be turning 30 soon. Well not exactly soon, but you will be pushing your late 30s at the time so you can share some tips with me.

@Giorgio The 31st? At least everyone in the world is out on that day.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes, I really appreciate it!
