Flexibility is key because life isn't always how we expect it to be. There are going to be times where you have a set budget and an amazing bargain or financial decision comes your way. On the flip side, there will be times where you really want to spoil yourself but you simple can't because finances are tight at the moment.

I do believe in being responsible with your money. I do also believe that sometimes "normal" just won't cut it for me (and for all of you).

I love all these unconventional bits of advice, and follow most of it. :)

My advice: be flexible! So much PF advice is all about rules or rules of thumb, but life doesn't always lend itself to tidy numbers in a row. So plan, yes, but know that it's a good thing to have flexibility with your money.

I can't say that I'm a big fan of the organic food, but I do believe in spending money on good food. I like to workout. Hence I like to eat good food as often as I can. I understand that sometimes when you're on the go you eat what's convenient. However, for the most part I try to prepare my food ahead of time so that I know I got a day of decent energy filled food ahead of me.

I agree Anthony. Too often do people only look at the cost of their trip as the main deciding factor. Sure trips can be expensive, but the benefits usually outweigh the costs. Another thing is that I'm sure you can tell which co-workers of yours have recharged their batters and which haven't. Once you come back from a getaway (regardless of time) you're much more refreshed and ready to get back into things. That's just my opinion though.

Good advice. I need to cut my losses more, especially when it comes to books and movies (I'm pretty bad at ditching the useless ones halfway through).

My unconventional advice would be to spend more money on food. Buy good, organic food rather than trying to save money by resorting to the dollar menu several times a week. Food is fuel for your body so make sure you're investing wisely. You should be able to reap the rewards in other areas of your life since eating well means more energy and less illness.

Travel is always a good idea. My wife and I try to travel ("take a vacation") once a year. I know that's it's a unnecessary expense from a financial point-of-view. But the benefits outweigh the costs.

I work 51 weeks in a year to the best of my ability and probably grow quite a few gray hairs due to the stress. My investment in a one-week vacation relieves this stress and allows me time to reset.

First of all- WELCOME TO THE PF BLOGGING COMMUNITY! It's cool to have you on board and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.

As for your comments- I agree with your points. You can't let a little bit of debt hold you back from travelling once a year. It's just an annual trip and I'm sure recharging your batteries is worth a lot more than most people realize.
