Are you looking to save money and start making your own breakfast in the morning?
This is my first summer living on my own. Even when I lived at home, one of my greatest expenses has always been food. This is why I’ve made it a personal goal this summer to learn how to eat well on less money.
A buddy came from out of town this weekend. Our tradition is to go for a nice breakfast in the morning. We usually just head over to a local breakfast shop, eat our food, share some laughs, and pay the bill. This time around my friend brought up something interesting, “for someone that writes about personal finance, you spend an awful lot of money on food.” This got me thinking. As a result, we made a conscious effort to try to have a cheap, yet effective breakfast this time around.
Here are the initial ingredients/basics that you’ll need for this simple, yet effective bachelor’s breakfast:
- Oil.
- Pans.
- Spices/condiments.
This is the actual food that you will need for this bachelor’s breakfast:
- 6 eggs- 3$
- Bread/buns- $2
- Bacon- 3$
- Home fries-2$
There you have it. The perfect breakfast for the young person. Once the basics are purchased, you can feed 3 grown men for under $10. Most breakfast places charge at least 5 bucks a person. All you need now is to figure out how you’ll take turns preparing breakfast.
