I’m not sure if it was intended to be a prank or if the person was trying to make a legitimate point. I was going to ignore this comment at first but then I figured I might as well address this issue in case anyone out there is concerned (or even remotely cares). Here’s the comment:
“Jeezuz, man. You spelled Studenomics wrong.Ec*o*nomics => Stud*o*nomics, not Stud*e*nomics.’”
First of all how could the spelling be wrong? Studenomics is not even a real word, I just made it up. Is Bargaineering a real word? Is Moolanomy the correct spelling? No because all of these names are simply a case of thinking outside of the box and using a little creativity to create a blog name.
To be honest I debated between Studenomics and Studonomics for a few minutes. The main reason for my final decision is because I was worried people would think it’s some sort of a porn site or “how to pick up girls” site. Mind you the stud is still in the name but stud-oh-nomics would be pronounced in a way that would lean towards sounding more like an adult site. By placing an “e” instead of an “o” in the term I was hoping that people would pronounce it studen-omics. My goal was to place more emphasis on the word student not economics.
What do you guys think? You like the name? You hate the name? You don’t care and think I wasted my time for even discusing this?

I think Studenomics sounds better. It implies ‘the economics of a student’, which is basically what your site is about.
Studonomics just sounds silly and mildly porn-ish…
I think you spelled it write:
*Studen*t + Eco*nomics* = Studenomics
In my opinion changing your name would be a mistake.
Thanks,
Nate
Just someone with too much time on their hands. It’s a great name and blog. Keep the great work. How did your exams go?
I think the guy meant that technically there is something historically called ‘a cement O’ (really) in words that came from greek origins, like “ecOnomics” and “aristOcracy” and all that–it just means that it connects two stems or a stem and a prefix. If that’s not your technical intention, then I don’t see a problem. If you wanted to make a word based on that system, then oops, you got close but not exactly–so that’s my guess as to the pickiness involved–*shrug*–
you got it right. and that’s how i say it.
A bit of a waste of my time to be talking about this, and even commenting about it, really.
Just kidding!!!
You spelled it right. The other way made me think of a horse stud and thus, a well hung porn star site that gave out financial tips as a weird sex quirk so that you can learn something about life while watching porn.
Educational porn, that is.
Long story short, name is fine. Better than Studonomics.

@Adis Thanks for your thoughts.
@Nate I agree to change my blog name after this much hard work would be a major setback. There are so many other things I wish I could change and believe me my blog name is nowhere on that list.
@Vik Dulat Thanks for asking, exams went well and now I have one more L-O-N-G week left and then another two exams on April 22nd.
@Fabulously Broke Educational porn? Hmm maybe there’s more money in that that personal finance lol. Thanks for your input.
I think that your current name is fine. As others have commented, it sounds like a perfectly good amalgamation of student and economics. If it were Stud*o*nomics, I think it would still be acceptable, but you would probably have more issues with the occasional wandering band of porn seekers.
“What do you guys think? You like the name? You hate the name? You don’t care and think I wasted my time for even discusing this?”
Wrong question. The real question should be, do we like your content? The name doesn’t matter as much as the content.

P.S. Yes I like your content, and name.
Brother, I think you made the right choice too! I think the name embodies what you are trying to accomplish with this blog!
Whatever, dude. The train has left the station and you have launched the site with the name spelled the way you chose. What you should do now is buy the URL’s with the mis-spellings and have them redirect to your homepage so that folks who “hear” your name can spell it any way they choose.
Absolutely ridiculous. You know why they mention it? Because it makes them feel better about a somewhat pathetic life they must lead. As mentioned many times above it’s a combo of ’stude’(nt) and (eco)’nomics’.
Not to mention the pronunciation of the original studenomics makes it clear that it’s for students not ’studs’ as I would I think of ’studonomics’
Also the reason that the ’stu’ in student is pronounced so even though ’stud’ is pronounced differently is because it has a vowel after it. Hence it’s a longer sounding vowel.
I am just getting around to read this and it’s a funny post. The funny prize definitely goes to Fabulously Broke because I actually laughed out loud.
Studenomics is fine and I like RateNerd idea about grabbing Studonomics.
Thats great material, like your stuff, just passing to say hi!
