Personal finance bloggers are always talking about saving money and ways to save money. Today I’m here to own up to my mistakes and let you guys know that just because someone writes about money it doesn’t mean that they’re great with their money all of the time. We all make mistakes and sometimes the best thing to do is to look back and laugh at them.
Here are some of the stupidest ways I spend/waste money:
Eating out. I make my own food 75% of time. It’s when I don’t that I blow lots of money. What can I say? I love to eat and I don’t skimp out when I eat out.
Parking. I drive to places that I should probably take the bus to. Oh well, I hate the cold and wasted hours of my life the past 5 years while taking public transportation everywhere. The driving is worth it but when it comes time to park in certain areas of the city, all I can do is suck it up and curse on the inside.
And the stupidest way I spend money? Instead of telling you, I can show you…
Yes I love to smell good even though I know there are no real benefits to it.
Your turn. What are some of the stupidest ways you spend your money?
Have some fun and please don’t judge anyone.

Eating out is definitely my #1 money waster. Like you I also like my fragrances but I usually narrow it down to a few of my favorites.
Mmm food.
We probably overspend on the eating out front more than anything else. A long day at work…don’t feel like cooking and cleaning..there you go.
I need clothes, but do I spend money on that? NO! I need new shoes… but will I spend money on that? Hell NO!
I will spend money, a lot of it, on food. On groceries, on eating out, Wawa, Taco Bell, Longhorn (yummiest steaks ever).
Stupid would be my dvd collection, except for the seasons I’ve gathered. Now these movies are on every other weekend, like Kill Bill
beer only beer i spend about 5 bucks aday on a couple of tall calls, hey after 12hrs work i needs to relax and the weekends are worse. but the part that makes it stupid is i am not even getting drunk, i guess this is my form of latte fix , i should just make my own moonshine
it more potent and cost less. my great grandparents were moonshiners and bootleggers so it in my blood. any one know of a good recipe
Buying electronics. I used to be addicted to buying all of the latest and greatest toys, but gladly, I am out of that mode. My second biggest money hole was my DVD collection. Thankfully, I also have not been purchasing any more of those.
I must admit Anthony back in 2005 I went through a DVD buying phase. I don’t know why but I would find myself randomly buying DVDs all of the time. Even movies I didn’t care. Crazy college kids.
Cars, but no more. I once bought a $75,000 car for cash, and sold it a year later for much less because it couldn’t fit in the garage of this new condo I was buying. Oops! never again.
$75,000? For a rich man like you that’s nothing.
Eating out is our number one money waster. All of our other luxury expenses were chosen after careful consideration – cable ($60 a month with DVR and used ALOT), biweekly maid service ($45 for bottom floor), biweekly lawn service ($25 with weeding), and Massage Envy ($49 a month as gift to hubby) – but eating out is the big money waster because we only do it because we’re too lazy to cook. We’ve aimed to only eat out once a week this year and are sticking to it really well…I hope we can continue this 2 month streak.
