But, the economc conditions were similar to 2010 in that it was very hard to get a mortgage. I was very luck that I had good credit and a stable work history. My lender required two years of employment history with the same company. They are also interested to see what line of work you're in. Don't be surprised if you get denied based upon being in a very cyclical industry. Just went through this process last year.
