What do you do on a Saturday morning?
Besides trying to cure your hangover, what do you find yourself doing on a typical Saturday morning? Do you notice yourself doing the same thing every Saturday morning?
Actually, let’s take a step back for a second. Why does it matter what you do on a Saturday morning? What’s the significance of this?
The activity that you do on a Saturday morning is something you love and are passionate about. If you work full-time this is your first moment of free time and your opportunity to do whatever you want to do. If you’re looking to start a side-business and can’t think of any ideas, you don’t need to look any further than Saturday morning.
What you do on a Saturday morning is something that you happen to enjoy and likely want to spend all of your free time on. Why not try to make some money while you’re doing this?
Could you make some money from this activity?
Every “Career Coach” and “Life Consultant” suggests that you follow your passions and do what you love. This may throw some of you off because we all know that being passionate about something doesn’t always equate to earning a full-time living. None of us want to be out living by the river because we blindly followed our passions and realized there was no money in it. Screw that.
What I believe in is trying to find a way to make money doing something that you truly enjoy.
Whatever it is that you spend your time on every Saturday morning is clearly something that you care about or else you wouldn’t be spending your free time on it.
How could you start making money from this hobby?
It all depends on the field and what type of work is available and possible. If the field is right you can always start a blog (bet you weren’t expecting me to say that!).
There’s lots of great theory on the internet about how you can make a living doing what you love. I wanted to be a bit more practical today. Let’s look at some practical examples…
If you love to work out on the weekends, you could easily leverage your skills to become a Personal Trainer or some sort of a fitness instructor.
If you find yourself trying to play soccer in your spare time maybe you can make some extra money on the side by becoming a referee.
[Side note: When I was in high school my part-time job was to referee soccer games. I made good money for my age, I was surrounded by other soccer maniacs, and once in a while I got the referee a damn good match. Well, there were also many completely lame games.]
There are many other options that I just can’t think off the top of my head now. You get my point. You can figure it out. I just wanted to throw out the basic framework.
What you do on a Saturday morning is something that you’re obviously passionate about and could spend more time on. You could also make some money while you’re at it.
Now my friends I would like to know– what do you do on a Saturday morning?
